Jetpac eSIM Review

A $1 eSIM plan. Free airport lounge access when your flight is delayed. A built-in VPN. On paper, Jetpac reads like someone threw every possible feature at a wall to see what sticks. In practice, after using it on flights through Singapore, Bangkok, and Bali, I found that most of it actually works, and some of it works really well. Jetpac launched in 2022 and has been growing fast, quietly building a 4.8-star rating that's the highest among the providers we track.

The $1 Plans

They're real. You can genuinely buy 1 GB of data for $1 in many popular destinations. I got a Singapore plan for $1 and it worked perfectly for a two-day layover: Maps, messaging, browsing, all fine on 1 GB. The catch isn't hidden fees or throttling; it's just that 1 GB doesn't go far if you're using data heavily. But for short layovers, quick border crossings, or as a backup connection, having a $1 option is brilliant. Nobody else offers this. Larger plans scale up in price normally. A 5 GB Thailand plan runs around $6, and a 10 GB plan about $11, which is competitive with Airalo and Nomad. The $1 entry point is the hook, but the rest of the pricing holds up on its own.

Airport Lounge Access

This is the weirdest and most compelling feature. If your flight is delayed by 60+ minutes, Jetpac gives you free access to an airport lounge through their partnership with a lounge network. I couldn't test this personally because my flights ran on time (for once), but I confirmed the feature exists. The app has a dedicated "Lounge" tab that detects flight delays using your flight number. Other users report it working at airports across Asia and Europe. Even if you never use it, having the option transforms Jetpac from a simple eSIM provider into something closer to a travel utility app. It's a smart differentiator that costs Jetpac relatively little but creates significant goodwill.

App & VPN

The Jetpac app is well-designed: clean, modern, and snappy. Purchasing and installing an eSIM takes about three minutes from start to finish. The built-in VPN is toggled on with a single tap and worked without issues across all three countries I tested. Speed impact was minimal, around 5-10% reduction, which is better than most standalone VPN apps manage. Unlike YeSIM's VPN, Jetpac doesn't push the VPN feature aggressively. It's there if you want it, invisible if you don't. Data usage tracking is clear and updates in near-real-time. The overall app experience is on par with Airalo's, which is saying something for a company that's been around less than half the time.

Network Performance

Singapore was excellent, connected to StarHub with consistent 40+ Mbps 4G speeds. Bangkok via DTAC (now merged with True) was solid in the city center but dipped in the suburbs. Bali was the weakest of the three, with speeds hovering around 8-15 Mbps in Ubud and Seminyak. Not terrible, but noticeably slower than what I'd gotten from Airalo on a previous Bali trip using Telkomsel's network. Coverage spans 200+ countries, and from checking user reports, performance in Europe and Japan is consistently strong. Southeast Asia is more variable, as it tends to be across all providers.

The Youth Factor

Jetpac launched in 2022, making it one of the youngest providers we review. The review base is still under 3,000, compared to tens of thousands for established names like Airalo and Holafly. That limited track record is worth considering. A 4.8-star rating from 3,000 users is encouraging but doesn't carry the same statistical weight as a 4.6-star rating from 80,000 users. The company is based in Singapore, which is a strong hub for travel tech startups, and their funding and growth trajectory suggest they're here to stay. But if you value proven reliability over flashy features, you might prefer waiting another year to see how they handle growing pains.

Who Should Try Jetpac

Frequent flyers who appreciate the lounge access perk. Budget travelers who want a $1 backup eSIM for every layover. Privacy-minded users who'll use the VPN. Anyone who's bored with the standard eSIM experience and wants something that feels more like a travel companion than a utility bill. Jetpac is the most fun eSIM provider I've tested. It genuinely made me look forward to trying features, which isn't something I ever expected to say about a data service. Whether the substance matches the style long-term remains to be seen, but right now, Jetpac is the most interesting thing happening in this space.
