Being able to access the internet for Maps etc around Africa, and then after being stranded in the ME I was easily able to get a new esim for the country I'm in. Unlimited data, excellent service all round, would 10/10 recommend.
So easy to buy & install the Esim from airport after landing, even I had to contact the customer support as I have another HOLAFLY GLOBAL PLAN. In total less than 10 minutes I had my new Esim purchased, installed and working.
I've asked several questions to the online support via chat and they always answer quickly and solve the issue or doubts very well. Happy with the service. Irina worked with me today, it was a pleasure.
Emma and Zoe were really helpful as my flight was delayed by three more days. The extension on my eSIM was sorted out in minutes. Thank you.
Better coverage than I expected during my holiday on a cruise ship. I thought I would only have coverage whilst in various Australian ports but often found it working too whilst sailing closer to land.
Negative Reviews
I purchased an eSIM for Sint Maarten but it only worked on the French side, not the Dutch side. Requesting a refund has been a 6-day long nightmare with repeated requests for the same information via email.
Lanzarote eSIM didn't work indoors for £24. Wife's Maya Mobile eSIM at £9.50 worked perfectly everywhere.
Fiji eSIM didn't work at all. Support interactions involved chatbots and unhelpful representatives. Refund took 10+ days to initiate. Competitor Airalo resolved a similar issue in just a few days.
eSIM let me down several times a day. Required phone restarts dozens of times daily. WhatsApp support was quick but suggestions didn't resolve the problems. Will never use Holafly again.
USA network traffic routed through Spain causing poor speed and reliability. Constantly dropping out or weak signal.

Holafly charged me for a monthly plan I did not intend to continue, and when I contacted them about it, they refused to refund me. The subscription/recurring billing was not clear enough, and the customer service response was disappointing. I expected a simple resolution, especially since I reached
Don’t even trouble yourself with this sim. It’s hard AF to get it downloaded and functional! On a 19 day trip I had service really only while on the trains sadly the rest of the time I didn’t have service. When I got to Shanghai I was able to trouble shoot with them on the app but then only had serv
Horrible el servicio de soporte! No solucionan absolutamente nada. No pueden saber por qué la línea no tiene señal, seguí todos los pasos sin éxito alguno, me dicen que me van a contactar para ver qué pasa y hace más de 2 horas estoy esperando! Es una falta de respeto. Te arruina el viaje teniendo q
We paid for one month, the connection was awful and it got disconnected after 4 days and had to spent two hours to figure out it got disconnected and they couldn’t resolve the issue so far.
I had a plan for one day that was supposed to be 20 days in Kosovo. It’s was canceled by you guys for no reason. I reached out through the text service and was told I’d get a supervisor, last Friday. I’ve literally texted every wand nobody answers now!

I've used the unlimited data plan in Bali and China. Absolutely brilliant, wasn't blocked from any sites, speed was great nearly everywhere, even in small towns. I don't think I had to connect to an alternative once in the 10 days travelling. Very happy. I did have trouble hotspotting for my partner
I used Holafly for the first time going to Japan and I was very impressed with the connection. No issues at all. Went around Tokyo, Niigata, Kyoto and Osaka (Main central areas) but even still, had a very good first experience. Will definitely use it again for my next travels considering it will be
Great way to use your phone data confidently when abroad. It always takes a few minutes after activation before it works but from there on it's there when you need it.
Great eSim used in Philippines, China and Indonesia. Can be a pain sometimes when you are in the middle of something and the internet drops but overall good
excellent. not sure if cheapest, but got 5g most of the time in china (also not need extra vpn, only if you stay on local wifi). stable connection, easy installation. previously i asked for a refund and it went smoothly. will use again.

Terrible. The data will randomly drop/lose all connection pretty often. The speed doesn't seem very fast for full bars 4g or 5g, I could be waiting 5 minutes for a page to load. After making my purchase I have never been able to login to the app. It "sends" a confirmation code to my email but I neve
Worst esim I've used. I tried to use Holafly in Antigua, and it kept disconnecting. I had to repeatedly go through steps to select one network, delete all Bluetooth and Wi-Fi settings on my phone, restart, toggle more unrelated phone settings, and then maybe it would connect for an hour. The standar
unfortunately this app was of no use for me. I installed, and activated the ESIM in Jamaica, but have not been able to use data. Each time I contact them regarding the issue, they tell me rhe same thing like a broken record. They claim that my SIM and Network setting need changed. After I send scree
Worked well, for a time, but I started encountering problems with them giving me invalid esims from the word "go" (a total of 3 times!) Sometimes their support fixed the problem in short order, sometimes they sent me in circles for 30 minutes and resolved nothing. Whether this is a scam, a flawed sy
Downloaded it and got the confirmation, yet the install process is ridiculous. I enter the code they give and apparently it's already in use. Asked for a refund and got some spiel about speaking with the tech team. I'm not doing that while on vacation. Went and got Saily, and it worked instantly. Mo
In-Depth Review
The pitch is simple: buy a plan, use as much data as you want, never think about it again. That's what drew me to Holafly in the first place, and after testing it across three European countries, I can say the pitch mostly holds up. In a market flooded with capped plans that force you to ration every megabyte, Holafly's unlimited approach feels liberating. But "unlimited" comes with caveats worth understanding before you hand over your money.
Buying & Installing
You can purchase through the website or the app. Both work fine, though I found the website slightly easier for comparing plans side by side. After buying, you receive a QR code via email almost instantly. Scanning it on an iPhone took about two minutes from start to finish. Android was a touch more involved because some Samsung devices require manual APN configuration, but Holafly includes step-by-step instructions specific to your phone model, which saved me from digging through forums. One thing I appreciated: you can install the eSIM days before departure. It just sits dormant until you activate it at your destination.
The Unlimited Reality
Here's the deal. You genuinely get unlimited data. I burned through 4 GB on my first day in Barcelona: Google Maps running constantly, uploading photos to iCloud, a few video calls, and there was no throttling message, no warning, nothing. The connection stayed solid. Where it gets interesting is speed. Holafly doesn't promise specific speeds, and I noticed that during peak evening hours in busy areas, things slowed down noticeably. Not unusable, but YouTube dropped from 1080p to 480p on its own. By morning, speeds bounced back. My read: you're on a lower network priority tier than local subscribers, which is the trade-off for unlimited access.
Where It Works Best
Holafly shines brightest in Europe and Latin America. Their carrier partnerships in Spain, France, Italy, and Germany delivered consistent 4G speeds, and I rarely saw the connection drop to 3G. Mexico and Colombia are also strong from what other travelers report. Southeast Asia is more hit-or-miss. In Thailand, speeds were acceptable but nothing special. Japan worked well in Tokyo but got patchy outside major cities. If your trip is Europe-focused, Holafly is a strong pick. For Asia-heavy itineraries, you might want to compare options.
What's Missing
No voice calls, no SMS, no tethering on most plans. That last one stings. If you were hoping to share your unlimited data with a laptop or tablet, you're out of luck unless you specifically buy a plan that includes hotspot, and those cost more. The pricing itself runs higher than capped alternatives. A 5-day Europe plan costs around $19, which is reasonable, but a 15-day plan jumps to $47. For solo travelers who mainly browse and use messaging apps, that's fine. For someone watching Netflix in the hotel every night while also navigating with Maps all day, it adds up but still beats hotel Wi-Fi rates.
Customer Support
I reached out twice during my testing, once through the app chat, once via email. The chat response took about eight minutes, which isn't bad. The agent resolved my APN issue quickly and even followed up an hour later to check if things were working. Email took about six hours for a response, which feels standard. There's no phone line. The help center articles are decent but not as thorough as some competitors. For a company this size, I'd expect a more robust self-service knowledge base.
The Verdict on Holafly
Holafly solves a specific problem really well: the anxiety of running out of data abroad. You don't need to count megabytes, you don't need to find café Wi-Fi, you just use your phone normally. The trade-off is a higher price, occasionally deprioritized speeds, and limited hotspot support. For travelers who want simplicity above all else, especially in Europe and Latin America, it's hard to argue against Holafly. Just know what you're buying: peace of mind, not the fastest connection on the market.
